Zinc & Vitamin C
Zinc is a mineral compound found in, seafood such as oysters, liver, beef, cheese, cereals, rice, beans, and nuts.
Zinc is among the most important of the trace elements in human nutrition. Tiny amounts ensure the proper functioning of more than 300 enzymes in the human body. Zinc acts as a critical ingredient to immune cell function, assisting in cell division and growth. Zinc assists the regulation of the production of cells in the body's immune system, protecting it against infection. Providing adequate zinc-and a balanced diet-has been shown to help decrease their rate of infectious diseases. There is also evidence that zinc deficiency is implicated in deteriorating vision that comes with ageing. Zinc leaves the body daily and therefore a reliable daily intake is required.
Vitamin C also known as Ascorbic Acid is a water-soluble vitamin that plays an important part in helping to maintain the bodies' immune system at optimum level. It is a powerful antioxidant* and in conjunction with Vitamin E, Beta-Carotine, Bio-Quinone and selenium protects the body from free radical extra-cellular damage. It works to regenerate Vitamin E from its components.
Vitamin C is particularly sensitive to heat and light, and can easily be lost during cooking. Only small amounts are stored in the body and being water-soluble excesses are excreted rapidly. Humans cannot produce Vitamin C and any dietary supplements should therefore be taken daily.
Vitamin C is required in the liver to activate certain detoxifying processes and in the synthesis & metabolism of other vitamins & amino acids. It is also known to assist in the absorption of iron, a mineral not easily absorbed from the diet. It is an important component of collagen, the cellular cement, essential for the growth and repair of body tissues, gums, skin, in the joints, bones & teeth.
